About Brown & Brown and the Foundation

Brown & Brown, Inc. is a global insurance brokerage firm delivering risk management solutions and services since 1939. We have a long-standing history of public and community service.  With thousands of teammates in hundreds of locations, our Culture of Caring is demonstrated by our team’s dedication to the many communities in which we live and work. We believe that a commitment to giving back helps to build a better organization, and our team is passionate about serving those in need.

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the board of directors, corporate officers, and Brown & Brown teammates became concerned about the welfare of Company teammates affected by these disasters and other hurricane victims not associated with Brown & Brown. The Brown & Brown Disaster Relief Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) was established based on this concern.

The Foundation provides funds to support Brown & Brown teammates, family members, and individuals not employed by Brown & Brown who have experienced a loss of home, property or physical injury due to natural disasters or other emergency hardships.

The Foundation expects to assist individuals not employed by Brown & Brown, Inc. by making grants to other nonprofit disaster relief organizations that have been recognized to be organizations described by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “Code”), and that are engaged in more general efforts to provide disaster relief. The Foundation also expects, to the extent of available funds, to assist individuals not employed by Brown & Brown by making grants to individuals who are family members, friends or neighbors of Brown & Brown teammates, individuals who are former teammates of Brown & Brown, including retirees, individuals who do business with Brown & Brown, and individuals who are family members, friends, or neighbors of individuals who do business with Brown & Brown.
